For the past few years, I’ve had the amazing honor to work on a committee that plans a critical fundraiser–Rhythm & Brews–for Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center. This event is held on March 9 in Lake Norman at Sweet Magnolia Estate.
Facts about Pat’s Place
It provides a physical environment where a child’s well-being is the first priority, reducing trauma and promoting healing from sexual abuse. Its mission is “to drive resolution of child sexual abuse cases through investigation and collaboration with key partner agencies; to provide a safe and compassionate environment that puts the well-being of the child first; and to break the cycle of abuse through training, education, and community outreach.”
Here are some statistics from last year:
- Conducted 623 forensic interviews
- 85% of the cases were sexual abuse
- 7% witnessed a violent crime,
- 5% suffered physical abuse
- 2% suffered neglect
- 94% of therapy graduates demonstrate a reduction of trauma symptoms.
- Abuse victims are 67% female, 33% male
Not only does it help those impacted, but it also helps to train (over 3,000 people last year) on how to recognize signs and symptoms of abuse, respond appropriately, and PREVENT child abuse from ever happening.
How can you help?
Help sponsor the event. Sponsorships are available now and include tickets to the event. We are seeking Live & Silent Auction items. Do you have something amazing to contribute?
Attend the event. Tickets will be on sale over the next month. There will be yummy food, craft beer, wine, live music, live auction, and silent auction. We have some amazing craft beer sponsors: Birdsong Brewing Co., D9 Brewing Company, Ghostface Brewing & Old Town Public House.
Make a donation. Every dollar raised during the event will allow children to have hope restored as their healing begins.
