CORNELIUS NC: On Thursday, March 21st, the Lake Norman Community came together to support a blood drive at Harris Teeter’s Antiquity Town Center location. Sponsors included: Harris Teeter, LKNSBN, Southlake Women’s Healthcare, Eleven Lakes Brewing, PitaPit and PostNet.
New look and name
but still your local blood center
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is merging with OneBlood, a not-for-profit center serving Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. The new organization will serve more than 250 hospitals. The CBCC buses will be transformed into Big Red Buses. New technology offers the following enhancements:
- Streamlined registration process
- Electronic check-in via iPad
- Online donor portal for easy access to schedule appointments
- Tracking of donations through donor’s OneBlood account
- Donor’s health history including cholesterol results and blood pressure
Donors received: a Be Heroic t-shirt, a coupon for a free pint of beer from Eleven Lakes Brewery, and a coupon for a free small pita from PitaPit. There were other promotional items from Bank OZK inside the donation buses.
Excellent medical teams
OneBlood sent two buses to offer more donation times. As one of the many donors that day, I can say the entire process was faster than the last time I donated. The electronic check-in and medical history was simple and straight-forward. It was a great experience and I’ll definitely donate again.
A special thank you to the Lake Norman Community volunteers
For organizing the blood drive, the sponsors, and the great giveaways.
Join us for the next blood drive – June 13th
The Lake Norman Community will be organizing the next blood drive on Thursday, June 13th in the same location at Harris Teeter Antiquity, 21720 Catawba Ave, Cornelius. Donors who donated last week will typically be able to donate again at this time. New donors are always welcome.
